The Korok Trials - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Guide - IGN (2024)

The Korok Trials is one of the 76 Side Quests in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It starts in Korok Forest, located in the Great Hyrule Forest Region.

Speak to Chio, a medium-sized Korok with a mushroom on his head standing on a tree stump to the right of the entrance to the Great Deku Tree.

He challenges Link to complete three Shrine Quests:

1. Trial of Second Sight
2. The Lost Pilgrimage
3. The Test of Wood

Complete them in any order and return to Chio who gives Link a Big Hearty Truffle x3.

Trial of Second Sight

To begin this shrine quest, speak to Zooki inKorok Forest. He's found dancing on top of a rock along the path leading into the Lost Woodsand will tell you:

"The hungry trees will show you the way. Spy their iron to win the day."

Equip Magnesis and you'll instantly see what that means. Certain trees will have metallic rocks in their maws.

Continue past the first one to the second tree. Then hang a right and you'll spot the next one in the distance. You'll get attacked by a Stal Moblin and Stalkoblin, as well as a goat and some Keese on the way. You'll eventually see a metal object on top of a rock pedestal. It's just a rusty shield, but it'll point the way (to some Stalkbolins, too).

Grab the shield. Climb into the tree and drop the shield to "feed it" as required by the inscription on the nearby stone. A treasure chest will appear. You'll find some Amber inside, as well as a Korok Leaf floating in the water nearby. Grab it and get on the raft.

We'll save you some time: the next stone inscription will tell you to return the treasure chest to the next tree.

So while standing on top of the raft, use Magnesis to move the treasure chest from the first tree on it (use D-Pad to bring it in closer), then "row" across with the Korok leaf to the next tree, torches and stone. Feed the tree the treasure chest and the hiddenKuhn Sidajj Shrinewill appear out of the ground.

The Lost Pilgrimage

To begin this shrine quest, speak to Tasho in the Korok Forest. Tasho is in the northern part of the forest (follow the path to the north with the bean lights to get there). She will ask you to follow her scared, little boy Oaki without being seen. If you find Oaki first, just get lost in the woods (walk into the fog) and you'll automatically be brought to Tasho.

Following Oaki is easy. Just keep your distance. You can shoot down the Coarser Bee honey without him noticing. After a while, he will get startled by a falling branch and turn around. Stay back or hide if he gets close. Once he gets to a hollow log and announces that he's halfway there, follow, but stay on the outside of the log and wait at the end. Oaki will walk into a clearing and get scared by what he thinks is a ghost. He will now double-back, so don't move. Once he relaxes, keep following him.

Again, don't get too close. A wolf will appear. You can attack or fend it off if you're far away enough -- preferably with an arrow. If you feel the wolf will give you away, drop some meat on the ground. Just continue straight on the path and you'll see the shrine glowing orange in the distance. Once Oaki gets there, it's safe to show yourself.

The Test of Wood

To begin this shrine quest, speak to Damia in Korok Forest. He will tell you about the test and the three pieces of Forest Dweller equipment needed to brave it.

You simply need to fight your way through a stretch of forest filled with Chuchus, Keese, Octoroks and Stal Bokoblins. Shoot any electrified, ice or burning monsters with arrows and use the sword (carefully) to take down any others. You cannot break any of the equipment.

Simply follow the path and don't jump over any fences or head into the mist. You'll come to a stack of boxes. Just blow them up with a bomb and continue on to the left.

The swamp portions can be tricky. You can use Cryonis to create ice blocks or surf an updraft created by fire to safely glide across the swamp. Take down any archers from afar (remember: headshots). Be especially careful of any electric type monsters - they will shock you and make you drop your items, disqualifying you immediately.

You can balance over logs or continue using Cryonis and keep away from monsters by climbing trees.

After the second swamp you will arrive at the hidden Maag Halan Shrine.
